Looking at the gallery shot - do we think Sky will be providing widescreen 16:9 News for five - as they did for RI:SE on C4?
The monitor stack behind Kirsty in the publicity shot looks quite widescreen to me - though it also looks pretty depressing (multi-screen plasmas rather than a decent CRT stack)

So, it has been confirmed. Ben Ando will present the last five news, produced by ITN, just before 9pm tonight.

Contrary to some opinions expressed these 1 min updates were confirmed by the Five News editor only yesterday, and are presumably because of the Tsnuami dominating TV news at the moment.
Erm, what I said earlier in the thread weren't "opinions", they - as I've pointed out - were the imformation I was told by somebody at Sky News.
There are days you can sniff the testosterone in this place.

Erm... just to be clear Bruce... on Friday December 24th... you said Sky would be producing the 1 minute news bulletins 'at the weekend'.
As you posted on a Friday, we all assumed you meant the Christmas weekend; some people challenged you on this; and you DID NOT clarify that you meant the NEXT weekend. ie Jan 1/2.
Now it turns out that Sky ARE producing the Jan 1 and 2 updates, and a row breaks out over who was 'first' with that news.
I don't really care who was, but Bruce you must admit your initial posting was a little ambiguous!

You didn't miss much, it was just a short bulletin, then Ben Ando said 'Goodbye and a Happy New Year', but as the previous poster said you could tell there was a certain whimper to those words, and then it ended as a usual Five News Update. No mention of the ITN team or anything, which would have made it better.
Shame they couldn't have copied Anna Marie Ashe with a 'Firm goodbye and a new team from tomorrow/Monday'
Such a quiet end to what was a major service when it first started.
I still have the 8pm bulletin from the first night of Channel 5, so I might upload it later if anyone wants to see it.

If anyone captured it, would it be possible to upload the final bulletin.

Do Sunset & Vine still use it for the Sports programmes they make for Five overnight? I remember they were still doing it in 2003 and when they were booted to the Channel 4 News studio as the Five News studio was still being redecorated. So if they still use it, then I think it would still be available. I wonder who has the duty of dismantling it?
You never know it could become extra studio space for ITV News, as one of the old ITN studios was given to London Tonight.

I asked this a while back, but does anyone know if ITN has any plans to continue to use the space occupied by Five News until yesterday? Or will they hand it back to the owners of 200 GIR for someone else to rent?
