Anyway, I'm also surprised France hasn't already got somebody who's black on a primetime bulletin. But it's good to see. Bon Chance!

That's False. France 3 has already Audrey Pulvar who comes from the french Carribean Islands...

IIRC doesn't she present the night time news - 11pm - France 3 Soir - rather than primetime (20h) news bulletin?

Actually, we say "merde" - as saying "good luck" in France is bad luck!

Arrow Yes, she is presenting the "Soir 3" ("night 3" in English), and there is no black presenters in the Primetime News Bulletin (at France 3 there is not the "20h" but the 19/20, from 1900 to 2000 Wink ).

Arrow Jaimé :Yes, it's better to say "merde" as good luck ! Do you speak a little bit of French ? Smile

Funny that there's so much publicity about this when, in the small print, it's revealed that actually this guy is just filling in for the main presenter (PPDA) while he's on his summer hols. So it's not even a permanent appointment.

I was far more interested in what Florian said about TF1's news getting a revamp later this year. For anyone who knows TF1, this is a spectacularly big deal. Their news had its last revamp in 2002 - and even that was only a minor tweak to the set (changing from blue to black) and a new graphics package (which, 4 years on, still seems far far worse than the previous one). The titles have been unchanged for years.

A bit of a contrast to their news channel, LCI, which seems to have a new studio every time I see it.

Yes, LCI have many different Studios... Personnaly, I don't like the LCI idents, with Franklin Gothic Heavy font... The Studios are great, but the graphics, Arrgh !

The LCI graphics at the moment are very similar to the 2002-2004 News 24 ones - big red top strap with chunky font, then smaller text below on blue (instead of News 24's black). Not particularly nice.

One thing I have noticed, not only in France, but other French-speaking countries too, is that the dress code for newsreaders is certainly not as strict as it is here in Britain. I have seen male newsreaders without ties and the top button open on the shirt, and the females, with regard to the above photo, do not always wear suits etc. Just a small observation, but an interesting one.
