Funny reading comments on Twitter from people bemused at Meridian News, liking the fact it wasn't all inner city crime. I assume it wasn't Fred Dineage hosting tonight as that would have caused even more Twitter comments.

How to... evacuate. Laughing

I’m sure we’ll see something in the tabloids tomorrow along the lines of ‘CHAOS at ITV News as Tom Bradby is evacuated from studio.’

It's already started online...

If UTV don't get any breakdown music, do they not get any continuity announcements either?

Nope. I'll review a recording later but I believe UTV viewers were treated to an apology caption and complete silence.

EDIT: yep - complete silence. This has happened during previous breakdowns. Not a terribly satisfactory solution for UTV viewers. The on-screen caption is unbranded and the ITV network announcer made no reference to ITV. Playout for UTV should take network sound for these situations.

Considering Digital Spy felt Rory in Mrs Brown's Boys forgetting his line was worthy of its own article, I'm giving the tabloids a free pass on this one.

Why does it take so long for people to evacuate at ITN & ITV? When the alarm went off on Good Morning Britain at ITV studios they sat there for about a minute wondering what to do. When it happened on BBC breakfast they went straight into a simulcast of BBC news I believe.

It was BBC World News, complete with commercial sponsorship!

Nice bit of video content that the newspapers can put an annoying pre-roll advert on, they'll be all over it.

Impressive from the Mirror reporter, managing to misquote Bradby despite the video being embedded in the same page.

The Network announcer did say "You're watching ITV" at the very end, but it would have ben more satisfactory even if that had gone out.

On the subject of exaggerated headlines, maybe you could edit your opening post to udpate the headline now it's clear that it was a fire alarm, not an actual fire?
