I heard this earlier and I thought - the voice sounded familiar. I actually thought it was Newsbeat's trainee newsreader or someone else on the Newsbeat team filling in. Embarassed

It wasn't until right at the end when she was saying the last bits and weather over the outro jingle that I twigged that it was Fiona Bruce. Her formal tones sounded so out of place with the general informal style of Newsbeat's reporting and presentation that I was amazed that I didn't detect it earlier.

For anyone that wants to listen to a bit of this I managed to record a clip of it as I thought - what the hell is going on. Download here.

But yes - good to hear her on Radio 1, even though it sounded so out of place. Probably proves that not all newsreaders are boring old farts, eh? Laughing

In fact, I think she was so good that we should start a petition (IMMEDIATELY!!! - IF YOU GET MY DRIFT) to have her moved, er sorry, promoted to being the permanent presenter of all news on radio 1.

Fiona Bruce is nothing compared to the fact that JK & Joel had John Humphreys co-hosting the Wonder Years last Friday.

She did really well. She actually sounded really good. She did indeed do it from the news centre at TVC though and not from Radio One HQ.
