welcome one and all to the tvforum regional rota manager competition. i know many of you out there have been waiting for this very opportunity to put to use those giant wall planners which record and predict the shift patterns at the regional news programmes we know and love.

some of you may have come accross a similar concept to this based football, but i think you will find this version far more exhillorating, so much so you are guarenteed to punch the air.

it is simple, pick your fantasy regional news squad, it can contain employees of regional news operations in england, wales, scotland, northern ireland or the channel islands. you are required to pick:

3 news presenters
1 sport presenter
1 weather presenter

- you can have no more than 2 of your squad from each geographic region
- 3 must be from itv and 2 from the bbc (or vice versa)

and the scoring will be as follows:

lunchtime
main news presenter = 5 points
weather presenter = 2 points

evening
main news presenter = 10 points
weather presenter = 4 points
main sport presenter = 3 points

bonus points will be awarded for presenters jumping ship and presenters who undertake breast enlargements during the course of the competition will accrue double points. each person in the squad can only score points for 1 role per show, eg a news presenter reading the news and sport. presenters of sub-opts do not collect any points. a member of your squad presenting from outside the studio will be awarded 2 bonus points.

3 from London.... isn't that against the rules?

Any chance of a list of presenters for those of us who don't know anyone outside their own area?

He's never done either since joining Tyne Tees, as far as I know. Newsreaders at Tyne Tees (North) tend to do the same bulletins, and don't seem have a moving rota.

Any chance of a minor rule change for us poor people in the west?

Can we have some bonus points on days when both channels field complete teams that nobody's ever heard of?
