Just to let you know, BBC Parliament will be showing lots of clips of the original BBC News coverage of the Falklands conflict, which should be quite interesting.
Later in the evening they'll also have the full Commons debate from the time, which of course would have to be in sound only.
I watched the tail end of this today and was amazed just how basic the News was back then. Hand sketched pictures and static slides told the story. Makes me feel old looking back at that!
Far better than the journalists interviewing journalists from the scene just because otherwise the SNG truck and crew would have nothing to do as we have now, IMO
With regards to BBC Parliament, I've only just realised the 1992 General Election is also being shown soon, may well take a look at that - that's on Bank Holiday Monday (9th).
i "pvr-ed" it, expecting it to be the sort of thing i'd watch a bit of a time, but found it so gripping, ive watched almost all of it already. great to be able to see how events were being reported at the time without the need to constantly edit and summarise as virtually all reflective docos have to do due to time constraints.
its a great shame that it has, no doubt, gone completely unnoticed to the vast majority of viewers who were simply not informed that it was on. sad really - when you see how much airtime is devoted to plugging stuff on the red button.
also great to see michael nicholson's documentary get another airing tonight on itv.

I certainly want to watch the beginning of it and see the famous exit poll which turns out to be completly wrong.
A full re-run of Labour's "Victory" Rally in Sheffield from the night before the 1992 General Election would also be good to see, as it would set the exit poll and unfolding events of the night in context.
