I hope Wesley can do a bit of overtime on that Sunday as to me, he is Central South. Well he started on day one, it would be nice to see if he there on the final Central South News.
It'd be nice if they could get Anne Dawson in as well... and of course Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards.

Ms Pope (and for that matter the journo that wrote the article) are totally clueless.
Reading is split between Meridian and London, only a tiny number of viewers in the Tilehurst area use Oxford. So it will remain a 'split' town for ITV.
Yep - Reading is mainly split between Crystal Palace and Hannington isn't it - so viewers are either watching London Tonight or Meridian Tonight.

Caught the end of Meridian Tonight west and it appears Andy Craig has left the programme, they were showing his best bits at the end. A further internet search reveals Wesley Smith and Mary Green will present Thames Valley Tonight, with Hannah Shellswell co-presenting the Friday show. Link here.

I'm willing to bet that it'll be as soon as CNsouth has been dispanded. Which would make 11th-12th November 2006 the first pan-regional weekend, apparently.

It'll take Meridian's regional programmes.
So its technically a sub region of Meridian then?

Yes, but looking at the transmitter maps Reading is in the primary service area for Hannington, but only the secondary service area for Crystal Palace (i.e. the signal strength is much stronger from Hannington?)

Effectively, yes.
Especially considering that the programme will apparently come from what is currently the Meridian West studio (which is in Whiteley near Southampton).

Thames Valley Tonight will be presented from Meridian's base in Hampshire-- so technically I suppose it is.

Reading's quite a hilly town, so there are places where CP is better than Hannington. There's also the legacy that in the old 405 line days, the only receivable service in the town was from London. Crystal P carried UHF 625 a few years before Hannington was built, so there are still many people using CP rather than Hannington.

Will the forthcoming pan-regional weekend Meridian bulletins include the new Thames Valley region or just Meridian South + Meridian East?
It'll be a bit wierd for Thames Valley viewers to recieve "Merdian News" at weekends.
I'm presuming that the weekday daytime Thames Valley bulletins will be called "Thames Valley News" (in keeping with the "News/Tonight" formula of the "Meridian"-branded services)??????
I can't imagine it being "Meridian News/Thames Valley Tonight" in the new region. To have such dissimilar short-bulletin & main-weekday-evening-edition titles is usually the preserve of Border... (Speaking of which, what is the thinking behind Border's "Lookaround" title? It's not even a real word!!!!
