How about that other minor region of London (Crystal Palace)?

Alexandra Palace was replaced by Crystal Palace decades ago. A local relay was installed at Ally Pally many years ago but it is certainly not a main transmitter.
By the way, the BBC News department was the last to use the Alexandra Palace complex in the 1960s - sorry to break this to you.
I do wish people would check very basic facts before correcting others.

Indeed. The high power 405 line transmissions from there transferred to CP in the mid 1950s.
A low power TV relay was established there on Nov 2nd 1982. The same day Channel Four opened, and also the 46th anniversary of the BBC TV service opening from there.

You should probably have checked yours...
The Open University were based at Alexandra Palace long after News moved out, until the opening of the BBC Open University Production Centre (since closed) on the OU campus in Milton Keynes.
News moved out in the late 60s/early 70s when they moved into Spur at TVC. The OU were there until the late 70s/early 80s when they moved to the OUPC.

I think noggin is slightly more than an "anorak who knows more" - at least he's got the job to prove it!
And is this thread central south? Last time I checked it was transmitter sh*t.

Can't be bothered Noggin - there's always some anorak here who knows more - let them do the work. I think the Ally Pally error was slightly more crass than me not bothering to learn the history of the OU.
