I haven't paid too much attention to Euronews, but the geoblock has been lifted for all the YouTube streams in the U.S. on AppleTV, so I can now watch it like any other channel on my TV.

Anyway, it looks like NBC and Euronews are already sharing content. The stories that Euronews is currently running this hour about Harvey Weinstin and the California fires are the same exact ones that were available for NBC affiliates to use tonight. They didn't include the reporters' standups (which are optional anyway), but both of them include the reporters' "NBC News" tag outs.

There's also now a lot of material in NBC's affiliate wire service with "EBU" marked as the source.

EBU is the European Broadcasting Union. I don’t think that’s the same as Euronews.

Not the same as Euronews, but they're the other major shareholder in Euronews. It's pretty much the EBU broadcasters, NBC, and that weird eccentric Egyptian billionaire. Pretty much all content on Euronews that doesn't come from in-house Euronews correspondents (which is a minority of their content overall) comes from EBU broadcasters (or now, as we've learned, NBC).

Just making sure. Surprised there wasn’t more before. NBC is a sublicense/participant. I think before it was called an associated member.

Maybe they used to run NBC source video through the EBU before the agreement, but seeing full packages with NBC reporter tag outs is definitely new and says a lot about how this partnership is working. Sharing full packages like that isn't all too common.

And today, Euronews is running Jay Gray's California Fires package that was prepared for late local newscasts as well as Andrea Mitchell's package on the Iran Deal that first aired during NBC Nightly News. I'm pretty sure this package on the Boy Scouts was taken from Nightly News too. I haven't seen them on the French version of the channel though.

Interesting to see how they're already starting to diversify the content between languages and include NBC branding. I wasn't sure whether they'd shoehorn NBC's visual brand into Euronews, but now it's looking more and more likely that they will at some point.

You mean their overall visual identity or some graphics burnt into packages?

I don’t watch often enough but I saw those two reports. Jay’s seem to be a clean package while Andrea’s appeared to be an air check.

What I mean is that I find it very telling that they are not only running these packages, but also including the reporter tag-outs with "NBC News" in them. There's no visual manifestation of the NBC News brand yet, but I find it interesting that they are already including the NBC News brand by way of putting reporter-fronted and reporter-tagged packages into the news block on the English channel.

But it still so far appears to be confined to only the English feed. The French version at least hasn't run any translated NBC News packages and is not covering these California fires to the same extent as the English feed is.

Edit: today they're running a Nightly News package that was tracked by Lester Holt. If that's not putting NBC News branding on something, then I don't know what is!

Are there any Telemundo packages in the Spanish Feed?

Working again now. Don't know how long it was off for.

It is disappointing that Euronews has geoblocked their live streams in the US again. I'm not sure why. I thought maybe it had something to do with the Olympics, but it still hadn't come back on YouTube.
