Even more reason not to watch Euronews.

ITN tried it, so now NBC News. Given how Euronews operates I really cannot see the point.

Well I guess they didnt become one of the biggest media companies on the planet by making to many devastatingly idiotic decisions.

NBC is known to be very cautious with acquisitions and they conduct a lot of research and data analytics.* Plus chances are they won't be running EuroNews rather they will supply content to them and EuroNews will do the same.
*If your ever in Universal Studios Orlando they may pick you to participate in a viewer survery on prospective show pilots and prerelease movies. I think it's more involved than a focus group.

I could see how it could help both cover each other's territories better. Access to NBC would mean Euronews would have more than just relying on Reuters to cover the US, and Euronews could provide a lot of international content to NBC/MSNBC. An odd pairing, but I see how both of them would find value in such a deal. It's also a minority stake, so it's not like NBC is buying more than half of the whole thing.

Breath in, breath out... AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! WHY?!
What is the point of renaming it? What does it achieve? I will only be happy with this if it means the service returning to Freesat (which I doubt). This has bad news written all over it.
Euronews NBC. Yes, Americans now hold 25% of a European news service.

I'm not sure if the channel will be renamed based on this paragraph from the memo sent by Andy Lack:
I'm interpreting that it may just be the corporate name - like when NBC and Universal first merged.
Quote:
We plan to marry the power of the NBC News brand and the talent of our people with a formidable news asset in Europe in order to create an international offering that will strengthen our news organization and change the landscape of international news. This new venture will be called Euronews NBC.

I hope it is just a corporate name. I also hope they see sense in relaunching Euronews on Freesat.
