I wonder how these journalists are able to stay awake for so long. One BBC producer director (I can't remember which but I think he worked with Jeremy Vine) was up for over 30 hours. I imagine it's a rush covering such a story but at the end your going to be dragging.

Also, I never would have noticed this but with some close up shots you could see the male presenters whiskers coming in over night in real time. For me it's just I wake up the next morning and it's there.

It's really not so extraordinary - I used to do 32 hour shifts reasonably often as a doctor, and my wife still does from time to time. I'm sure there are plenty of other industries too where it's not unusual.

I pulled a 22 hour broadcast shift yesterday, not that difficult providing you stock up on sleep the day before.

We had 2 plans, one for Remain and one for Brexit. Our programme running orders pretty much changed in a few hours and when you're a local radio station like we are you've not got much choice. Although I was double heading our afternoon show with a former Sky News presenter which made those few hours fly by at least.

While a 30 hour shift is particularly painful, it's not that uncommon for people in broadcast / entertainment to do 24+ hours. Festival I'm on next month I already know I'm doing 3 days of 10am - 6am (working, so plus time to get to/from the venue, and that's if everything goes to plan), it'll be a slog, but with lots of sugar and caffeine it'll be ok. A 12 hour job often feels like a short day once you're used to it!

If only there was some sort of EU regulation to limit working time...

at noon, the News Channel continued with a World simulcast (presented my Mathew Amroliwola in Brussels), while BBC One had a bulletin with Jane Hill on College Green.
(with apologies if I'm straying too much into rota territory...)

The title sequence at the end of the 1200 hour was back to "the UK's EU Referendum" (with the original, non-L cube), and 1300 started with the standard title sequence.

BBC Parliament currently replaying Thursday night's results programme.

Interestingly on Tuesday morning they are going to show Friday's edition of Gibraltar Newswatch from GBC.

Probably held up by Spanish customs!

Indeed, if you want to watch it, it's on the GBC website along with their results programme (part two of which is mostly simulcasting the BBC programme)
