I think when people are talking about a second referendum they mean a second Scottish Independence referendum and some people are getting confused.

ITV currently due off at 1355, BBC1 at 1530 (which is when BBC2 was due off anyway).

So the big question of the day will be: will the BBC broadcast Pointless at 17.15 on BBC ONE. It looks like it might just happen.

Incidentally how is the extra time negotiated? Is it a case of ITN saying "we expect this to happen and we have these guests lined up, can we have more air time?" or ITV saying "we want you to carry on, you fill it?"

Easier with the BBC as they have a news channel continuing in the background. Simulcast with BBC parliament continuing by the way (I assume this is for televisions in government venues that are normally permanently tuned to BBCP)

Can I just say that I though the BBC's coverage was excellent throughout the night. From presentation to content, it all worked for me.

David Dimbleby was great along with Emily Maitlis.

I enjoyed the bits of ITV's coverage I saw this morning.

Alastair Stewart and the team always do a good job on occasions like this.

I watched a fair bit overnight and thought both the ITV and BBC coverage was very good.

Having said that I thought Dimbleby a bit plodding and as for Jeremy Vine, I do wonder when he is prancing about around the graphs etc if he doesn't think to himself '.. to think, I used to be a 'proper' journalist and now I'm reduced to this...'.

I thought Sky News was excellent last night, wasn't hugely convinced by the BBC unfortunately.

STV might have been interesting for the Scottish perspective but it's rather unfortunate SD picture quality was off-putting and graphics weren't great.
