As far as I'm aware there is no exit poll, so it's just going to be a load of waffle for a few hours until the results come in.
There will be no exit poll as there would be no point - the whole referendum is based on one result rather than 650 individual results so the exit poll would really just suggest the actual result. There will only be an hour or so of waffle probably as Sunderland should be in by at least 2330. They'll presumably fill the gap with interviews/looking at polls/talking about 1975. I expect we'll have Maitlis and Vine telling us similar things just one in an analytical way and the other in a patronising way.
We'll get forecasts after the first 10 results. Once these are in the evidence will be there for extrapolating based on previous voting patterns across the country. The devil will be in the fine tuning of this extrapolation as the night progresses through to the final result at c 0730 Friday AM. Unless it's desparately close we'll know the IN/OUT outcome by 0330 anyway.
Similar really to the Scottish Referendum results programme on BBC1 where we had to wait a few hours for the action to begin, however that was an excellent programme and you didn't feel like you were sitting waiting for the results.
This picture gives a good idea of the space that was used. As you can see, the top row of monitors are always present and were not added to the set. Everything else was installed. A pretty creative use of a very tight space.
Is ITV still having News at Ten and the regional news as usual then?
It appears so, yes.
Thanks.
Will 10 minutes be long enough to make any physical changes to the ITV News set? I assume it'll be Bradby on the main desk, with Julie Etchingham on the smaller desk.

"so the exit poll would really just suggest the actual result" - that's what they tend to do the last time we had one last year.

Any changes will have already been made beforehand surely. As far as the set goes, it's presumably changeable at the touch of a button.
