Just a small update...

I'm back in Greece now for the first time since ERT was closed. What was showing as ET1 and NET on my EPG are now showing as EDT (Greek Public Television) showing the same program. I channel hopped yesterday and they're proudly showing programs from the ERT archieves with their logo on them. What was ET3 on my TV has been changed to VOULI (Parliament Channel) and is broadcasting. What was VOULI (I had this stored to channel 29 as I neve watched) is also now EDT showing the same feed.

BBC World and DW are both now broadcasting again also. I did do a manual channel scan on analogue but the only channel I could catch was CNN. All others are to weak. I was hoping to catch ERT. I'm sure someone told me it was still being broadcast on the old analogue signal. If it was, it seems to have gone now.

Here's what appears to be the first few minutes of the first news broadcast on the new broadcaster DT this morning. Apparently they are forced to use an older studio as the headquarters are still occupied by ex-ERT staff.

Conspiracy theory? I don't know. But is it worth a read?

What were the EBU meant to do? They intervened because the decision to shut down ERT left Greece without a public source of news. The new public broadcaster might be flawed but that's for the Greeks to knock out between them - the EBU did what they promised.

This is also worth a read: http://www.truth-out.org/news/item/18335-the-shutdown-of-ert-and-greeces-media-landscape-a-modern-day-wild-wild-west

It's not brilliantly written but does sum up the chaotic regulatory system in Greece, if you can call it a system.
