Who was presenting on Sky News when it broke?

It was Faye Barker.

The Fox News website has a choice quote on their report of the quake...

foxnews.com posted:
John Jenkin of Bourne said the jolt knocked objects from the shelves of his home.

"I was woken up. It was hell," he said.

Poor guy! Sounds terrible.

It wasn't just in England. The aftershocks were felt in County Down.

Why does every news agency cry over a British earthquake when the aftermath is always a few piles of rubble the size of a sandcastle? Newswatch, stand by.

Oh so you expect them to ignore it then?

I take it that none of the 24 hour News channels based in London were on air when it happened?
BBC News 24/World: World News America in Washington
Sky News: Prerecord CBS?
CNN: CNN Today from Hong Kong

AJE is from Washington at that time AFAIK?

Sky were probably on a break at the time, but they said during the coverage that it had not been felt there.

To me that's like saying "A bomb's gone off in Manchester, but we didn't hear it here sooo.... we'll wait a bit till more of you have phoned in."

Why mention that fact at all then? Bloody London-centric reporting eh!

I wasn't watching Sky News, but I suspect that might've been them responding to the claim from some that it was felt in London.

TBH I don't see what all the fuss was about. I'm in the Thames Valley and I didn't feel it, and all that happened in the places that were hit was a few picture frames falling of their hooks. And a few mildly irritated cats. The most serious injury was a broken pelvis caused by a falling chimney stack.

And nothing of value was lost.

No surprise there then.
