I really love the new titles... Only just a few differences between the versions of George Alagiah & Zeinab Badawi... The music, the introduction format. George, Gavin, and Jonny say "it's 7:00am in Washington, midday here in London, and X:XXxm in (city of headline) where..." while Zeinab's is just "welcome to World News Today".

The first 25minutes of Zeinabs WNT is pretty much the same as The World imo... not like the lunchtime GMT edition.

I know how its been done since WNT first started.

So... after she said "This is World News Today" BBC World opted out for weather, whilst on BBC Four they closed it! Then after the weather she welcomed us back on BBC World then said whats coming up then went into a break.

Oh I see.

When I was watching last night, I had wondered about Zainab's closing speel and reference to "BBC Four". I thought: "this bit can't be going out on BBC World, can it?". I had wondered whether the BBC Four close-of-the-programme was pre-recorded shortly before 7pm, and played out at the appropriate time on BBC Four.

I know what you mean - it seems a weird incarnation of The World and World News Today - seeming to draw on aspects from both programmes.

Personally, the 'times' introduction is a great loss. It really adds an international dimension to the programme to have the top stories time mentioned. I also found it an interesting and unique bit of pres - contrasted with the somewhat formulaic introductions with domestic programmes.

I also find it slightly odd that only the 19:00GMT WNT has these titles/bed. Is it perhaps slightly unconsistent?

Set still looks awful - it truly does. I had hoped they'd have a change around but from what I've seen it's purely the addition of some red lights.

Still, it's a nice enough programme which serves its purpose - would be interesting to see what the ratings are like following the re-scheduling.

I agree with Monck. BBC Four (and World, I'm sure) deserves far better than World News Tonight. The opportunity to put together a half-hour programme with fewer programmes (than 'normal' news) with a interesting international perspective has sadly been wasted.

BBC Four's ident into the programme is more rewarding.

I take it none of you have seen George Alagiahs WNT.

Maybe Zeinabs WNT should be like the other WNT on BBC World, both quite different and the lunchtime one is more watchable.
