I am surprised. I don't think she has the confidence for news night, a normal BBC News Bulletin maybe, but then again, I dont watch Local News often, so perhaps she is better now...
How ridiculous - the woman is an airhead. Her interview technique has got no better since she left Sky. I think she's been taking tips from Peter Levy.
Jeremy Paxman, Gavin Esler, Kirsty Wark all have plenty of life in them yet.
And let's not forget that Emily Maitlis is not remotely well-known outside of the M25.
It is all just the product of some meeting, where a group of execs sat down and thought 'hmm, what can we change today, then?' and they came up with the idea of putting a pretty, blonde nobody on Newsnight to make it more appealing to viewers.
I shall be bitterly disappointed if Paxman doesn't make a biting remark about her impending arrival.
Maitlis was too light-weight when she presented Breakfast last year, so putting her on Newsnight is just
I agree, Emily was too light even for Breakfast. She would be all right for the entertainment section and regional news but over to Newsnight is a strange decision.
Besides is there any need for three presenters (which is the current state), let alone four, with a show that is only on 5 days a week?
If they move anyone it should be Fiona Bruce, who I think would be more use on Newsnight.
