During this lunchtime's The West Today, the programme was stopped short due to an unspecified "emergency"
Lisa Aziz was presenting when she announced that "we have an emergency here at ITV West and have to finish the programme now" The standard ITV1 slide was shown for the remainder of the programme, before cutting to an empty studio shot prior to rejoining the ITN network feed.
I didn't see the news at lunchtime and don't know what happened but I do know that the weather in the region has been causing problems...power cuts, schools closed, flooded roads etc. They could have been flooded out.
Best ask today's duty viewer if they know anything about it.
If memory of the rota serves me rightly, it's a Miss Jones in Portishead today.
Respectfully Nick, your use of the "Duty Viewer joke" neither gets better through (seemingly constant) repetition, nor helps me to find out what happened.
It's a shame that ITV don't seem too interested in using new media such as the internet to stream their bulletins (except for the ITV Local experiment which seems to still be restricted to the South).
Otherwise, we would have been able to see the bulletin online.
