DAMEHOOD?? I'm sorry, DAMEHOOD??
Oh for crying out loud! And I thought Kelly Holmes becoming a Dame was bad enough

This is an absolute joke. I watched CNN this morning in a bid to see some actual news. On a day when there appears to be peace in the middle east (albeit probably for a couple of days), the dead soldiers are flown back to the UK, and 21 people are killed in Baghdad, it is an absolute farce that so many resources should be spent on such a trivial story. This is the sort of parochial, not looking past your own borders nonsense that many people normally accuse US broadcasters of.
And it must be a real turn-off for viewers. I was bored with this story weeks ago when ITV gave us daily updates, and hoped that it would be over when she was done. Far from it.
I really fail to see why this story is worth such earthquake coverage.

I know I'm proud of Ellen but don't they get things too far with the honors list these days. The entire England World Cup rugby team (even the young one who didn't get a game during the campaign) and Dame Kelly Holmes and Sir Matt Pinsent may be bad but with Ellen getting a Dame straight away, How many people we have known have got honors at any time of the year except New Year and June when the Queen has her officail birthday.

Cant believe all this coverage. Surely there are more important things happening. It was like when she sent that video around Christmas, saying shes bored or something, for god sake she wanted to do it. Trying to make everyone feel bad for something she decided to do. Im sorry to be so mean on this, but you know... It deserves a report at the end but nothing else, and we are seeing extended news reports and everything. What about OUR soldiers in Iraq being killed and injured. Im sure my point is made clear on this

I think I'm right in saying that Damon Hill got one immediately after his 1996 World Title-winning drive at the Japanese Grand Prix.....

Well pardon him for taking an interest in the creme de la creme of British sailing talent! Yes, let's not congratulate a British Recordbreaker; let's ignore her amazing efforts totally! If there's one thing I cannot stand it's apathy....
