Hear hear! I can't believe how miserable everyone here is.
The BBC are in the right spirit - they're wiping the floor with everyone on this. Of course they are the BRITISH Broadcasting Corporation and Britain does rule the waves. They've even got Ellen on the bbc.co.uk front page - one of those rare occasions when the news makes the top story.

Yes typical sad British attitude..... anyone who achieves anything vaguely interesting or amazing is put down by a bunch of miserable bitter tossers
I'd like to see the critics on this thread achieve something even vaguely as great as Ellen has today

The Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Prime Minister have all congratulated Ellen. That's how big this is. Good to see some people are proud of Ellen.
Just a shame that she gave her first interview in French. <spits!>

Didn't take Blair long to jump on the bandwagon, What after coronation street last week and T4 mayby he could pop down with some banners and welcome her home.

I'm pretty sure that extended 10'o'clock news was longer than the one on the night that the Iraq war started, and perhaps even 9/11. The BBC needs a sense of proportion. I'm normally the first one to say that programmes should be cancelled in the event of a breaking story, but this was hardly the outbreak of war, was it?
It's a minor, piddling story, an 'and finally' at best - I don't see the BBC doing an extended programme when someone sets a new record for sitting in baked beans. If it wasn't because of the fact that it's typically middle-class, middle-England, public school-pleasing sailing, they wouldn't care.
Or is that slightly controversial?
