BBC Scotland channel came off-air around 00:15, unfortunately before the final Scotland result has been declared. Most LAs have returned their results, but a couple still to come in.

Given the channel largely exists for political reasons, and there is a very significant SNP dimension to the results in Scotland tonight, it made sense for BBC Scotland (the organisation) to want to do some live coverage during the results. If not, they would've come in for a lot of the usual (if unfair) criticism of providing "England-centric" coverage.

Cameraman in the south east obviously didn’t realise he was on air

Also, I can’t believe the Brexit and Green candidates both had the same name!

I think that's down to them having to use their full names, the Brexit Party candidate goes by Alex otherwise.

Going by their twitter handles both probably go by Alex...

Scotland won't be declaring until much later due to some of the remote islands having to declare so understandable that BBC Scotland went off air - don't think we'll get a national total until the morning.

Also NI declares at around 9am.

There is also a networked BBC local radio special which most stations except the East and London are taking. Looks to be a return of the arrangements for the now discontinued evening national programme, hosted by Andrew Edwards from Radio Leeds.

Didn’t realise BBC local radio had gone back to doing its own thing. I know Mark Forrest had left to go to Scala, though. When did it finish? I thought it was a cost-saving exercise. Was it a reaction to the loss of local programming in the commercial sector?

Local evening shows disappeared towards the end of last year. Georgey Spanswick took over from Mark Forrest in 2017 and Johnny I’Anson took over from Georgey towards the end of the run.

The BBC “England Decides” show has just ended at 1am, earlier in the evening they were unsure what time they would be finishing depending on how long the results took to come in.

Interestingly they chose to end the programme with their own news bulletin and then handed over to 5 Live who were still mid bulletin.

Five Live just saying some Scottish islands haven’t counted due to it being a Sunday so no count for “religious reasons”

Election coverage on BBC World News - with Ros Atkins leading coverage instead of Huw Edwards, which he is featured in the EPG and the continuity ident. The ticker is a little bit weird...

The ticker and the main strap appear to be slightly different in terms of size and spacing.

Ah, that explains the lack of Western Isles result. All 31 other Scottish local authorities have declared. Transporting the ballot boxes isn't an issue in this election given the voting took place on Thursday. The ballot boxes were already transported to the counting centres ready for opening at 10pm Sunday.

Don't understand why The Nine special wasn't simulcasted on BBC One Scotland as well. Surely it would have been an ideal way to promote both The Nine and the BBC Scotland channel whilst providing an election program which is more 'relevant' for their viewers than just taking the main results program in full?

Huw is off to bed, World's programme presented by Ros Atkins has taken over on BBC One and the NC (with the World News ticker).
bkman1990 and SuperSajuuk gave kudos

BBC News Channel simulcasting World News in full at TOTH (by that, we are seeing the World News ticker rather than the News Channel variant that includes time which is presumably overlaid across the WN ticker)

He was nearly going asleep there when he said 'Coverage continues on BBC Wales' instead of BBC World. Laughing
