So will they leave that desk in place and cope with just one half of the studio for the next few weeks until the European Elections?

I am sorry but Bbc world news uses studio b better, all they done here is dump a big desk and relit Studio B in BBC News red with an old newsroom background.

Yes thats all we have done...

I'm a bit surprised to see that Huw appears to be on switched talkback for the Election show, although I suppose as he is doing a lot of studio discussion it might be easier not having the gallery in his ear at all times.

He isn't - he's PRES 1 and on open.

Reeta is on switched to me - as she also has a producer talking her thru sequences from behind the set, she doesn't need to hear open talkback...

We know you done much more then that but you could have used a different newsroom backdrop relit other then default bbc news colours and the lighting seemed too dark on certain shots when it can be brighter, it can be better because when bbc world news are in it, Studio b looks fantastic.

Ah I was going by the "Huw's Talkback active" indicator in the bottom corner

If TV forum had its way every programme would change on a yearly basis - and believe you me - that does nothing for authority and brand...

Thanks Chris - was this your first time directing a full election show rather than the VR inserts? Congrats on a job well done.

Personally I never thought there was anything wrong with news presentation in the days of Robert Dougall/Richard Baker etc, just get them read the words, day old film flown in to LHR and the occasional live report by phone with a caption!

And some people here seem to forget these were local elections contested only by parts of England and NI. Coverage has always been little more than a BBC News special, not an election night extravaganza.
