He doesn't need to step down, the BBC needs to have the guts to replace him. Emily Maitlis would be my pick.

Really? She's a good presenter but doesn't have the gravitas for the sort of events Dimbleby presents.

I don't think he should present alone, have both of them equal, with him taking his traditional style of presenting and Emily taking her more technological style, rather than having Emily as a 'segment'.

Does anyone know the names of the tracks for ITV's '08 and '12 coverage?

Dimbleby needs to step aside with the utmost self respect. He has delivered every election since I can recall with Katty has an iPad, guests have iPads, Emily has a wall, he has nothing...

Please David... step down!

How ridiculous. This kind of statement infuriates me.
Millions are watching David Dimbleby at the helm tonight - I am pleased the BBC still understand his worth and competence - he's leading the coverage for a reason.

There are alternatives if his approach isn't favoured - VR and iPads cannot, should not and will not replace a respected anchor.

Well said. It's iPads and assorted gimmickry that's the problem with television news these days. Technology is merely a tool for accessing and displaying information; it should not be the main focus of coverage. An anchor with the experience and gravitas of Dimbleby is worth his weight in gold. The sheer thought of Emily Maitliss holding proceedings together sends a shiver down my spine.

Was ITV just a tad early before linking up?

They were planning to go to a correspondent but couldn't so they went to NBC and tried to hold the cut for as long as possible.

The BBC studio looks tired. A bit like a regional news set.

At least it looks big. Al Jazeera English appear to be in a cupboard.

Although their studio looks quite nice, the BBC's graphics look very clunky and bulky indeed - quite a shame. ITV graphics are much neater and tidy IMO.

Seems to be using their morning show studio in conjunction with thei national studio, that's one problem that ITV have, Breakfast and News doesn't usually crossover.

All news channels I've checked (Sky, CNN, Fox, ITV, BBC, NBC) are all predicting different results.
