Here's the opening of BBC Alba's election coverage (more like an extended edition of An La... Oh well)
Still with the old Election theme (Arthur 2010 that is)
EDIT: Skip to 0:40

I like the title sequence (despite the wrong music), particularly that they've added the logo on to the banners on the street lights on Buchanan Street:

I think it works quite well with that music Smile

It's a nice touch indeed.

NC's clock is on World..
Not really surprising though. After all, it's a simulcast

It was there throughout world viewers must have been confused at least they could have put 12:03GMT or World just put their own lower thirds like they usually do.

In years gone by BBC World were at arms length so they did their own thing.

I thought BBC Scotland did better at the virtual graphics.

Here is BBC World doing their own thing in 2001 with proper headlines and titles I like the fact they are all shoved into a corner in almost darkness there and you can see all the screens, the director clearly musically inclined clearly ramping up the ends of the music Very Happy

God I loved BBC World in 2001. I long for those days!

I miss the BBC presentation in general from around then - punchy, unapoletegically authoritative and had so much gravitas. To the stage where even the music they used on the markets filler during the break makes me nostalgic.
The current presentation just doesn't compare.

Yes, I agree. I liked everything about the BBC at that point - all of the news presentation across board was fantastic and you also had the exquisite BBC ONE balloon idents as well. It all started to unravel from about 2003 onward, give or take. I'd very much enjoyed the 1990s branding as well, but it was the 2000 ish period that prompted me to hunt it out online and eventually find TV Home/Forum.

The BBC Scotland studio and setup looks far superior to that used in London, and probably for a fraction of the budget.

I've never seen the point of the Alternative Election coverage on Channel 4, surely it'd be better just to do a Channel 4 News election coverage,
What would be the point of that? ITV and Channel 4 both use ITN, so it'd be a strain on their resources and they'd be almost identical just with a different set of presenters. Unnecessary duplication.

It was either going to be Alternative coverage, or normal programming. The problem is, the producers apparently hired talent based on a Labour win - and their material became unusable when it was clear that the Tories would win as soon as the exit poll was revealed. In hindsight, they should've aired regular programmes instead.

The trouble is that is almost exactly what they ended up doing and that is why it suffered. Should have stuck to an alternative focused show targeting the peak viewing times, ending around 2am. It's the 10-12 slot which is key when there is alot of talk but not much action when there is the opportunity to stand out as an alternative.

Not sure how The Last Leg faired last night - the last thing I wanted to do was watch a 90 minute election special.

Bloody hell that looks good. Shame the BBC don't have a space in London to do something similar.
