ITV's correspondent lineup so far:

Chicago - Johnny Irvine
Columbus - Bill Neely
New York - Julie Etchingham
Atlanta - James Mates

US Embassy, London - Geraint Vincent

Part of me is wondering about Mark Austin, and if he'll be used in a few hours where the White House will be more central to the broadcast..

Did they use Mark or Trevor in the end? I went to bed at about half one and they hadn't.

Well that was easily the most hillarious show i've seen in a long time.

Let me now list some of the amazing things that occured...
>> car crash intro where bumblebee forgot who was sitting next to him
>> the 8ft angry dimbleby staying on screen in the VR segment pointing his finger and shouting to the extent that vine had to remove his earpiece
>> the graphics unveiling themselves one by one and getting more and more hideous each time

>> the woman in new york and a glamorous cocktail party full of unimportant people who kept wafting over to two old biddies on macs purporting to be keeping their eyes on the internets
>> matt frei getting out his seat and stomping off on camera so he could do his pointless ad break filler section
>> katty kay and john bolton's bitchfight and of course the non-existent live they came up with to stop it with

>> Dimbleby declaring he wouldn't call florida because " No, Fox News is NOT good enough"

>> Historia Simon Sharma turning out to be amazing and goading bolton by getting right in his face and taunting him about how the republicans were losing
>> Bolton going on a rant about how rajesh merchandari should be fired and dimbleby dismissing him
>> Matt Frei getting so bored of Bolton he sat and calmly wound him up for five minutes

>> An unintelligible Trevor McDonald lookalike being interviewed
>> Dimbleby's rant about how the electoral system was inferior to ours
>> Dimbleby describing the New York party as "those important people" in a very sarcy voice

and finally

THE STING that wonderfully managed now only to be ugly and pointless but cut off people without fail.

Brilliant broadcasting from the BBC.

A fantastic montage was used by ITV News to end its coverage... I've uploaded it to YouTube here

I didn't expect to be saying this, but I'm finding that Simon Schama was an excellent choice for the BBC US panel.

I'm also finding Jon Bolton to be the spectacular pr!ck that he always is - it's getting very boring to hear him try to start a fight about everything .

Yep - you can see why so many people didn't think his appointment as US Ambassador to the UN by Bush was a particularly constructive move. (I get the feeling Bolton doesn't actually believe in the UN...)

Surely his days are numbered now Obama is going to be President? Maybe the US's relationship with the UN will finally improve as a result...

Hear Hear, Think it's mostly down to David, he always does a good job on Question Time and On Political Debates, he's the right man to front Elections for BBC.

Nice Graphics as well from the BBC. Don't know if anyone has mentioned before but there was a quick snip of a Breakdown Screen on BBC One Scotland before the show started before it went over to David

I was flicking through the channels shortly after 8 o'clock this morning and there was a naked man streaking through shot during a live OB on GMTV. The crowd thought it was hilarious, but the reporter was evidently hacked off and also ended up pushing another (clothed) man out of his way towards the end of the report.

I noticed just after 6 this morning that Breakfast wasn't simulcasting on the BBC News Channel which was taking BBC World News' coverage instead.

Did this continue right through til 8.30, or did they return to Breakfast on the NC at some point?

It continued up to 8.30.

They've been simulcasting for hours. We saw David Eades in the world studio between 9-9.30 whilst Jane went inside the Washington studio. From 9.30-10 there was a simulcast from N6 with Rachel Schofield and from 10 it has been together again from Jane with UK roundups at :25 just before the weather whilst World go to breaks.

looks to me that the broadcast will end at 1300 GMT, since it will be World News Today (Mishal Hussein)...

so unusual for News Channel to have a very prolonged broadcast... they usually stop it at 2nd hour of Breakfast, like on Super Tuesday.

EDIT: they're doing that weird simulcast again, US Election report (Jon Sopel) from BBC News at 01, simulcast on BBC WN then Lucy Hockings on WNT

I reckon ITV did very well last night. Stumbleby got right on my nerves.

Alastair managed to banter with the reporters excellently and you could tell they all knew what they were doing.
