Last year was Assembly elections. There equivilant of a general election. Slightly more important than local elections

Assembly elections are not "our" equivalent of general elections. We in Wales are actually a part of the UK you know, and we take part in the general election too! Assembly elections are additional (and totally unnecessary) elections.

And just for anyone reading this thread who may be interested, BBC Parliament will be showing the 1983 General Election on May 30th.

Stand-by for a set of pretty unimpressive election astons this year. Nasty gradients and plenty of Gill Sans.

ITV did cover the locals at one point - I worked on one of them at LNN. Alastair Stewart presented a big program from the old London Tonight studios. Wales Tonight did it as well. I am going back some years now, but it was the case.

It seems ridiculous that ITV London are doing absolutely nothing to cover the event, obviously the mayoral elections are massive.

The Radio Times and Editor's Blog indicates a programme similar to the one last year (ie from TC7).

Why would ITN be providing VR inserts for the BBC?

I see no mention of studios on that blog?

The reason many think ITN will be providing the facilities for the VR inserts is because that is how it worked last time... (Presumably because it was cheaper than using any of the VR-capable studios at TV Centre - none of which have permanent VR gear installed AIUI)

Isn't ITV a commercial station? Why do people get upset when they don't cover some events. There will be coverage on their news bulletins, that's enough. They have to make a commercial decision.

Because they have a public service broadcasting remit, which they apparently ignore at will (and so does Ofcom).

On the basis of what they broadcast these days they wouldn't win any of the Channel 3 franchises.

Channel 4 has a public service remit, but I don't see any election coverage there either, outside the news bulletins - the same as ITV.

Coverage of the elections within their news bulletins is fulfilling the public service remit.
