Which studio will they be using for this on Thursday night and how will it effect BBC News?
The programme starts at 2335, so it could be in TC7, allowing N6 to provide news during regional opts (presuming the News Channel simulcasts the election programme).
I wonder if Paxman's got a role on Election Night this year - especially with the London Mayoral debate, could be interesting.
If they're doing it the same as last year, the results of the London Mayoral election aren;'t announced till the day after. IIRC last years they were announced at about 8:30pm
What are Sky and ITV doing - presumably they're only doing something in London for ITV.
Why? The elections are across England and Wales.
Because ITV might be accused of being a Public Service Broadcaster if they did - and god forbid if they did something on a local level, they might be accused of providing regional TV.
There is nothing on Granada, Central or ITV Wales. I assume though the London Mayoral Elections are too big for even ITV to ignore.
Doesn't that very large 'election desk' in TC7 take a couple of days to set up and test? ISTR Newsnight were moved to N6 on election night last year (if not before) to allow for rehersals/preparation in TC7 (obviously that can't happen this time).
It's a shame ITV have abrogated their responsibility for reporting on this since it's clearly an important event.
The result will probably determine whether we have a general election in 2009 or the government sticks it out for the full 5 years.
EDIT:
It's also rather irritating how much the BBC are concentrating on the London Mayoral election. Their election website is all but dominated by it. It's of absolutely no interest to 80% of licence payers, of course.
