It's a shame it can't be a permanent fixture.
I had a good look on Westminster council's website, and couldn't find any mention of planning permission for any of these structures. cat - fancy calling the planning enforcement people to see what happens? Smile

Not really TV Presentation, but I quite like those lecturns the PM/DPM are using for their press conference in the Rose Garden behind No.10.

I wonder whether they are new. They're not the same ones that Brown used for his monthly briefings, are they? Or do they just look different in daylight?

The brown ones had number10.gov.uk on them

They appear to be the same ones as previously, but a Google Image Search shows that they've had various things stuck on them over the years.

Don't think you need the same kind of planning permission for a "temporary structure" - which usually means one for a maximum of 6 weeks. You do need consent from the council (and although Westminster can be tricky I suspect they know how to handle Abingdon/College green broadcast stuff by now) - but it won't go through the same planning process that a permanent structure would.

Channel 4's Alternative had a few funny moments but really struggled to sustain 4 hours - even with the lenghty pre-records (and the the first hour was pointless). Charlie Brooker is surprisingly bad at adlibbing, David Mitchell is poor at presenting and what was the point of Lauren Laverne?

"Channel 4’s Alternative Election Night" was the 2nd most complained about by Channel 4 viewers in May, do you agree? See the rest of the programmes rated / slated by our viewers in our monthly round up here - http://bit.ly/dl2y5Q

'What is the point of Lauren Laverne?' She's blonde, northern & not Davina McCall !

I'd been wondering why, during the campaign, the BBC had been using a rather flimsy looking gazebo ("the election tent") for their OBs, rather than their rather more impressive double-decker bus from 2005:

Apparently it's had a transfer, and will be appearing on your screens again in the next few days...

And here it is - pretty uninspiring I think...

Apparently the lack of branding is for security reasons.
