Brown's resigned - imagine lots of coverage tonight I expect!

He says he will resign by autumn. Subtle but crucial difference, I think.

Yes, he's Prime Minister until either he's replaced after a leadership election or until the Conservatives form a government - minority or coalition

ITV to have 1 hour ITV News from 6-7 according to the ITV News thread! So I was technically right Laughing

Er yes of course, it's a big story, it's pretty obvious it'll get big coverage. What are ITV doing with the regional news?

They haven't done it for a while but they used to quite often for major stories begin at 6pm, then go to the regional news at anytime from 6.05-6.20pm, before returning to the Evening News at 6.30pm.

Was the Dimbleby special scheduled or is it a last-minute addition to BBC1 tonight?

Without wanting to seem like I'm fawning... I think ITN's James Mates has been on top form these past few days - he's been live from Downing Street, ostensibly welded to the same spot (...), on ITV News bulletins, GMTV coverage and even an appearance on This Morning last week. He has provided some intelligible and intelligent analysis.

Watching the ITV bulletin, it's getting more and more obvious that Alastair Stewart is more suited to this kind of rolling news. Mark Austin is, at times, sounding like he doesn't know whether he's coming or going. And Tom Bradby hasn't stopped being irritating all the way through the election coverage.

I definitely think Chris Ship has performed better than Tom Bradby for ITV this weekend. I agree about James Mates though - forget how good a correspondent he is now he spends most of his time covering for folk in the newsroom.

Tom Bradby is a bit smarmy. No local news tonight?

Which studio will the Dimbleby special be using? Or will it be from the temporary studio outside Parliament?
