A widescreen version of Network 1 is available for opting properly. It's only Hull and Leeds that still soft-opt for some reason. I think for the election opts regions had access to a 16:9 feed of the election programme for adding their regional graphics for the opts.

A possible reason why N24 has so many viewers could be that people were watching anyhow and then left it turned on when the Dimblespectacular began.

Would the regions have been opted out for the whole Election 2010 programme or would they opt just before they want to put captions up? I would guess they would say opted out so that they don't show London captions in error and there isn't a picture/audio jump when they opt.

Can London actually do supers on top of network themselves? I think somebody said they don't have a network feed to soft opt into.

I spent all of the night in Ponds Forge (in Sheffield) reporting. I've been catching up with the bits I've missed on the iPlayer...unfortunately because the 0600-1000 programme was classed as 'Breakfast', the iPlayer hasn't made it available! This is when the majority of the Sheffield seats declared, including Nick Clegg's Hallam seat.

I know it's entirely self-interested, but is there anywhere where the Breakfast programme is available? I was in the background quite a bit, and I'll like to know how they reported the Sheffield Central result. I've checked on YouTube!

Yes, I thought they (and Tunbridge Wells) have to 'hot opt' ?

I believe TC1 was sent direct to the regions on Election night on circuits from TVC. Regions will have opted just before the graphics opts, rather than stayed in circuit all along.

ITV has extended its 6:40 and 10pm bulletins today to twenty minutes, with James Mates in Downing Street and Mary Nightingale in the studio.

An irritating thing about ITV bulletins is the lack of "...I'll be back later in the programme, now to [insert name here] in the studio". What you end up with are straight cuts from one newscaster to the other, sometimes several back-and-forths in one programme, and it doesn't flow very well at all. Do any other broadcasters do this?

Tunbridge Wells doesn't, but London does. TW works just like any other region, however they didn't bother to install full opt out facilities for BBC2, so this was/is a crash opt.

London doesn't have a network feed to opt into like the other regions but it's not an issue to send the network or studio out up a line to BH so they can put graphics on
