I wonder what the situation with Dimbleby will be now over the next few days. Will he be on standby to return to the airwaves as and when required? Will the BBC election night studio be kept on standby over the weekend?

The election itself has finished (well except for the 1 result that's due today) so I doubt the election night studio will be kept rigged up for much longer. They'll undoubtedly keep it stored and ready in case there's another election in a few months though.

As for Dimbleby I'd have thought he'll present the coverage when Brown or Cameron goes to see the Queen but I don't see why he'll be needed before that, we've probably got days of speculation while discussions take place out of sight

From a comment by Craig Oliver (the editor) a few days ago, I understood it was available over the weekend as they had a contingency plan to do a couple of programmes. But to be honest it's difficult to see about what, exactly. For example, it doesn't seem likely right now that anyone will be going to see the queen until sometime next week.

Ten o'clock news will use TC1 for a final time tonight, you'd imagine. Plus the bubble studio on College Green might stay for a while for use by News 24. Nice but a pity it hasn't got a little election branding inside.

Well apparently the Ten is still to come from TC1.

Channel 4's Alternative had a few funny moments but really struggled to sustain 4 hours - even with the lenghty pre-records (and the the first hour was pointless). Charlie Brooker is surprisingly bad at adlibbing, David Mitchell is poor at presenting and what was the point of Lauren Laverne?

If there is an announcement about any deal?

First look at the new Sky news generic graphics - very nice.

The old music was better.

It's just neatened up from the old version, the Sky Graphics are cleaner, slicker, and really much more please, with plenty of eye-candy! Everything I expected, just to compete, Sky must do news 600x better than BBC - not hard. Razz

But that will just happen in normal rolling news time
