Can anyone tell me more about Tazeen Ahmad, the heavily pregnant BBC reporter who was at one of the London counts?

Tazeen is one of the main presenters of BBC Three News. She started when it was just 60 Seconds, and was one of the launch presenters of "The News Show". She continued to present the 15 minute "7 O'Clock News" (along with Ben McCarthy and Sangita Myska), and was then joined by Eddie Mair for the 30 minute show.

Paddy O'Connel and Sevi Lawson also now present BBC Three News.

By the way, check out this video (again from TV Ark) for the incredibly cheesy opening to Sky's 1992 election night programme - I'm particularly talking about the bit when the voice introduces the presenters...

That was nauseating! I especially like the way each clause is cut to to a clip of what the VO is saying .. "John Major faces the people..." just in case anyone in the audience should be unable to imagine what "the people" would look like.
There's a very similar sequence in an episode of The Day Today.. you have to wonder if that was the inspiration?

Yes, I seem to remember they were called ''The ITV 500'', and ITV devoted special programmes to them during the campaign.
A format that SMG have continued, with "the Scottish 500".

Re. the 1992 video clip...

That was brilliant - I particularly enjoyed Adam Boulton's turn to camera with raised eyebrow!!

On another point, I had no idea that David Frost had ever worked for Sky - you (or rather I) really do learn something new every day.

That is so much like a spoof

"From Sky News this is election 92 presented by DavidFrostMichaelWilsonSelinaScottandAdamBoulton" and then it goes on to announce umpteen other people like it's a franchise renewal promo or something rather than the start of a programme!

I'm surprised they can keep a straight face, especially that bloke on the end

The start of ITV's 1992 programme "Live from the studios of Independant Television News" isn't much better, it's as if they are trying to out do each other at grand openings

So the credits were only 3 minutes long (only!) and not 5 mins that people assumed. As others have said, there was no list of the reporters. I think in 2001 there was, as I recall reading them and in and among the list of unknowns names like Anna Ford would be listed. I'm sure they could have fitted them in this time, they could have used a slightly faster scroll.

There were also long credits on ITV although they used an appropriate popular song instead of an extended theme

Does anyone have a copy of the 2001 closing election titles which they could post here ?

Here's some captures, apologies for the size, but the writing is small, see how many famous names you can spot.

It probably was, as said the bit with Adam Boulton's eyebrow and the guy next to him really cracks me up.

There used to be a fantastic clip on The Continuity Booth that had the opening minute of TV-am's Election 1987 coverage, again it being only Anne Diamond and Adam Boulton on the sofa, when Anne says that Adam is TV-am's Political Editor he really gives the camera that dodgy look.
