Looking back at all the Sky News election night studios (pics from TV Ark), I honestly believe that this year's one was the worst of all. Especially poor, given how much Sky News has improved over the years. I'd say their 1997 studio was the best ever - there was another area you can't see in the pic with a big ?-shaped desk for Adam Boulton and guests.

By the way, check out this video (again from TV Ark) for the incredibly cheesy opening to Sky's 1992 election night programme - I'm particularly talking about the bit when the voice introduces the presenters...

That was nauseating! I especially like the way each clause is cut to to a clip of what the VO is saying .. "John Major faces the people..." just in case anyone in the audience should be unable to imagine what "the people" would look like.

Yes, I seem to remember they were called ''The ITV 500'', and ITV devoted special programmes to them during the campaign.
I don't think Sky's studio was THAT bad. It would've looked better with something more interesting on the screens, but it wasn't terrible. I'd much rather have that than the entirely virtual 2001 set, which looked very cheap.
And as has been said before, I imagine their set-building priorities have been elsewhere recently...

The studio audience was a big panel of voters who gave their views throughout the campaign. They were in the studio on election night, with Sue Lawley interviewing them at various stages.

So the credits were only 3 minutes long (only!) and not 5 mins that people assumed. As others have said, there was no list of the reporters. I think in 2001 there was, as I recall reading them and in and among the list of unknowns names like Anna Ford would be listed. I'm sure they could have fitted them in this time, they could have used a slightly faster scroll.
There were also long credits on ITV although they used an appropriate popular song instead of an extended theme
Does anyone have a copy of the 2001 closing election titles which they could post here ?

Good to see Adam Boulton call the Labour campaign team "real little turds".
Also appears that BBC Three are going to take Newsnight's "Student House" and develop it into some kind of series.

I would like to post this to apologise for my behaviour yesterday.
I can understand why I got the comments I did about my posts - it is just that I have known Anne all my life and thought the comments about her were completely unfair. You have all made your mind up - at least I know her though, and form a educated opinion. I can categorically say that am no stalker as I am not a lesbian. I should also apologise for swearing though - as that was totally unnecessary.
I know I have said this before - but I will now leave this forum, as I do not conform the main consensus here. I don't think it will do me any good, after the bruises received yesterday. Quite frankly there is no point debating something.
Once again sorry - and goodbye
