The BBC's VR seemed to have a strange outline around Peter Snow that ITV's didn't with Alistair Stewart.

Who was the first choice then ? - Kirsty Wark was out of this one mate after Villagate. Is Anne less of a journalist than Kirsty or Paxman??

Kirsty Wark was the first choice, but couldn't be considered for a Scottish opt after Villagate.

She is also not daft enough to associate too much with politicians - meaning she is a true professional!! I really like Kirsty - but for an intelligent woman she was silly getting into such a pickle with First Minister McConnell. Anne would never do that !!

Oh come on - the entire Villagate thing was a non story. Wark and McConnell have been friends since they were at University together, these things are unavoidable in a small country with only a few universities (at the time). Obviously if Anne is stuck up in Aberdeen tending the croft and doing housework then she won't run in to Edinbrugh/Glasgow based politicians as friends.

Given that Kirsty's work is mostly based in London there is no real conflict of interest. Some said Jack should have declared the holiday because it may have been "worth" more than £250, he said they just stayed in her villa, which didn't cost her anything. The fact that renting a villa might cost that much isn't really relevant. Jack's right - if not, does it mean if Jack takes his kids to their grandparents for a weekend without checkign the notional cost? The so-called anti-sleaze laws are a joke anyway, Jack had to declare his christmas present from his own wife!

Anyway, getting back to the point, Wark has a much higher national profile than MacKenzie. BBC Scotland would have used Wark given the choice (as they have at the last few elections, and in the same way that Wales used Huw and not a local presenter).

What the hell is your point here. I am NOT saying that Edwards and Wark have LESS of a profile than MacKenzie - so what are you whinging on about here.

As for Anne tending the croft she does not have one - if I did I would probably use the crap you're talking to tend to the fields.

Anne is no local presenter just a modest TRUELY professional political pundit who knows the boundaries.

Emphatically: no-one cares.

That's why you feel the need to comment - keep with LDN matters mate Wink

Erm, actually if you'd care to review my posting history, you'll see quite clearly that I haven't actually made any kind of comment related to BBC London (or LDN) for many, many months. I chose the username "BBC LDN" when I first joined a few years ago because I'm from London, not because I feel a need to fixate on a regional news programme and blindly defend its honour. It's painfully obvious, however, that the opposite is true for you as someone who has named themselves in reverence of one person who is demonstrably a nobody in the greater scheme of things, yet whom you blindly defend as though any comments about her are a personal insult to you.

Perhaps you should start some kind of thread dedicated to worshipping this woman so that the rest of us who don't feel the need to overstate her achievements and create shrines in her honour can comfortably avoid the nauseating gushing that you've seen to fit to shower this thread with. Better yet, perhaps you could just seek professional help.

If I were you I'd be crying at the realisation I've been hanging around here to the extent that I can respond to a valid point so very quickly with such a lack of wit.

EDIT: Oh and the fact that despite the fact my obvious emotional problems have been highlighted to my face I still cannot bring myself to admit them.

No dear - you're meant to get a life and stop telling us how wonderful Anne MacKenzie is. She doesn't know you, she doesn't care about you, and she's not going to invite you to her house if you keep telling everyone that she's great, and that she's the most professional person ever because she "chose" not to be a big-shot presenter. Go start a fan club or something, but stop gushing all over us about her, because frankly it's just sickening and very, very sad.

Getting back on topic, if we may, there were a few moments with Peter Snow when the keying went a bit tits up. He walked "through" his UK map a couple of times (instead of walking on top of it", and there were several occasions when the VR steps being keyed in didn't match up to where the real steps were actually placed. Consequently, once or twice it looked like Peter was walking up invisible steps. Several times too, the framing of the shots was all wrong, leaving text or other detail off either hanging off the edge of the screen, or out of vision entirely, until the view was adjusted a bit later.

Still, such glitches are to be expected even despite the many rehearsals. ITV News works with exactly the same technology throughout every single day, so it's perhaps not surprising that they're a hell of a lot better at it.

No - I have gone a bit overboard here though.

I am not trying to rub people up the wrong way - but I don't agree with the majority. That doesn't make me a looney. If it was Kirsty or anyone else on the box I would defend if what was being said was simply unfair.

I realise that I don't share much of your opinions on that forum - but I don't conform to pressure. I am not a clone. If people don't agree with me then fine - but please don't mock my contributions - as I do not mock yours.

This forum is for people to view and debate - that is all I am doing here.
