On the ITV News Channel, There was a cockup at 11.20pm tonight, they lost any sort of background, election or normal, in the studio, leaving Sian Jones sitting in front of a green backdrop.

As at 11.30pm they are still using election opening titles and background, although I think they are in the second studio with the nornal desk

Indeed, although that hasn't stopped the acqusistions of bias http://news.bbc.co.uk/newswatch/ukfs/hi/newsid_4480000/newsid_4481300/4481349.stm

What on Earth must they have looked like prior to them having to redesign the lot because there was too much emphasis on red, then?

They haven't redesigned it.... the logo always had more red because Labour had more MPs in the last government

Snazzy little effort on BBC1 NI as well, the Newsline studio has beeing given a darkened makeover complete with black straps that zoom animate like News 24 (you know what I mean) and slip and slide like network.

It did look quite snazzy. They were not in the Newsline studio though. They were using Studio 1 (an old and very large radio studio).

Go to TV Ark and head to the election section download the titles for BBC Election 92. Now THAT'S a great theme, I remember that one particularly well because Rory Bremner told a rude joke about Paddy Ashdown and it had the entire studio laughing.

Sky's set was utterly abominable, looked like an RTÉ set from the early 90s - now that's saying something! I nearly fell off my chair - it was so cheap and tacky and clunky and ugggghh!!

Yes the BBC's coverage was the best - the wood flooring and gallery etc just beautiful. Much more homely than ITV's (although pretty good).
Sky did seem to be ahead alright with data, but the BBC's coverage and anaylsis was second to none - Dimbleby's and Paxman's banter just fantastic!

RTÉ was pretty good for what it's worth - anything with Bryan Dobson is, a superb boradcaster up there with the best in Britain.
Sitting in the BBC Televison Centre amongst all the stars and buzz and excitment he must have felt more than just a tinge of regret broadcasting back to little old Ireland and the often incompetent fools who chuck RTÉ's bulletins together.

It was interesting to note the superior production values of their studio coming from the BBC - but notably the gallery staff were clearly drafted over from Dublin as the vision mixing was at RTÉ's dull as dishwater best Rolling Eyes

Sky's graphics were obviously designed forgetting that even though in 4:3 you still need some safe area. My TV is rather poor at showing everything and regularly I cannot see all of the bottom ticker. I found their graphics stupidly big and not all of it could be seen when watching on my TV.
