A rare example of UTV working close to the ITV network look from their programme:

There is some "violence" on the Paxman's interview...
This is brilliant. Well worth staying up for.
Definitely. But his interviewing style is sometimes said to be rude...
The interviewee is George Galloway
Online here.
The highlight of the election for me. Can't tell you how much that perked me up in the wee hours last night!!

MediaGuardian updated (i think) to include:
Sky News' ambitious election night show, Vote 05, fronted by Julie Etchingham and political editor Adam Boulton, averaged 111,000 viewers between 9pm and 2am.
The programme - a landmark because Etchingham was the first woman to front a complete UK election night - peaked at 10.45pm with 219,000 viewers.
BBC News 24 was watched by 74,000 viewers in the same period while ITV News took 22,000.
Unlike the terrestrial channels all three recorded an increased share of viewing compared with the 2001 election, a mark of the increase in multichannel viewing.

That wasn't what Paxman was suggesting. He was asking whether Galloway felt guilty about booting a black woman out of Parliament, given that there aren't exactly many black female MPs.
Tony Banks did say this, he suggested that many Muslims in the area dislike having a female MP (this was then repeated replacing female with 'mixed race'). While this is controversial, it is true that Galloway was certainly playing to socially conservative views, such as telling Bangladeshi radio in the area that he was anti-gay adoption (while no doubt telling the other left wingers in Respect the opposite)
Paxman was agressive but Galloway did do the same thing on ITV the other day. Demagogue seems accurate.
I noted that Georgeous George left as Jeremy was asking him what he will do in parliament - while his anti-war stance has won him the seat, isn't it going to distract him from serving his constituents in one of the poorest areas of London?

In fairness to Galloway, though he is a ****, Paxman's line of questioning was pretty ridiculous.
I hardly think he picked the seat because Oona King was a black female MP.

Considering ITV must have spent a bit of time creating the atrium backdrop, it would be nice to see it kept on permanently. It may be good for the NC, because it is the only news channel that doesn't have the newsroom as its centrepiece.

I notice, AdamP, you have deleted your post, but someone appears to have quoted it before you did. I'll reply to that.
My point is that Paxman was asking a deliberately leading question, which did not really contribute anything to the debate, nor was it really that relevant to the Bethnal Green seat.
MPs should not be cross-examined on whether they feel guilty about removing a ''minority'' group candidate from power. I didn't notice Paxo quizzing all those new Tories, who removed female Labour MPs, about whether they felt guilty about removing a 'minority' group from Parliament.
He was asking a question which was intended to provide a fiery response, because he is now more about drama than intelligent questioning.

Can't be arsed to read 27 pages of live analysis, so just a couple of observations.
The BBC studio was the best news studio I have ever seen the BBC produce. It was so light and airy- loved the big spaces of light wooden floor....that's how I see News 24 looking when it comes from Broadcasting House.
Also BBC's first attempt at a 'newswall', but the touch of Peter Snow above it look brilliant- and highlights the advantages (presentationally) of a double-decker studio.
Sky's studio (having spent some time watching the BBC) did look inevitably quite cramped and cold. Those silver screen-backs right in your face didn't really work for me.
I was really looking forward to the vidiprinter- I thought this was a genuinely good idea...but in the end I don't think it worked at all. Broadcasting in just 2/3 of the screen most of the time just looked a bit odd.
And the BBC/ITV exit poll looks like being more accurate than the much later Sky News forcast, for all it's trailing.
