Have you ever been to an election count ? When the votes stack up, some candidates are so far ahead that it is possible to call it prior to the returning officer getting up and declaring the result.
What would be fake if ITV actually lied or got it wrong, and that remains to be proven.
Exactly, so long as people understand what ITV are doing, it just adds to the choice and variety of election night coverage.
Perhaps it would be helpful if they differentiated on-screen in some way between firm declarations and those they have called themselves.

Did you notice then, just before Hull West was called, ITV withdrew one Labour seat, changing from 16 to 15, then added on one for Hull West now making it 16 again!
Shows that ITV aren't so sure about their fast approach! 'Confirming' and then withdrawing a result is a tad embarressing.

Do any of you know if RTÉ's coverage is coming from over there or Dublin?
The studio production is being broadcast in 14:9, a first for RTÉ, and the set, lighting, mics and in-studio gadgetry looks decidedly professional, i.e. British
The studio doesn't look like an RTÉ Televison Centre one either - anyone know if they're hiring one out over with you in London? Thanks.

I like the Beeb's 'GAIN' effect where the colour swooshes one way then gets covered over by the 'gaining' colour and a brief (but not over-the-top) flash of text.
Classy.
Classy.

That's because they'd already declared it several minutes earlier
