ITV News are in talks to have see which reporters work for the election campaign.

En Anglais, monsieur?

I think our friend is trying to say which political reporters will be in for the long run...

Surely all of them!? Elections are the biggest night of any broadcasters - imagine Nick Robinson telling ITV News saying "I want a day off May 5th."

Don't know French, so don't know what En Anglais means.

However, I was implying that all the political reporters will be at work for ITV Election 2005 - it's name - but I was talking about the general news reporters - where they are going to be posted...

If you're a newsman, shouldn't you know how to spell the possessive pronoun "its"?

I'm still trying to work out why he's replying on behalf of maximus.

Listen, I don't even know who Newsman is. Well, I know of him now, but I don't know him personally. I have no link with Newsman whatsoever. I am not him.

I don't have a link whatsoever with 'maximus'. I am sure s/he is a nice chap/lady.
Yes, OK, I did spell a word wrong - wow, how shocking is that [!] - and I can't see how that could incorrectly link me with a different person.
We are not one person - we are two - and I am astonished to hear this.

I think the reason for the confusion is outlined below:

Maximus started the topic. Cat queried Maximus' English (in French) and Isonstine tried to clarify the situation. But Newsman said that he didn't know French and appeared to defend Maximus' original comment as if it were his own. That is how people are connecting the two users, particularly as Newsman admitted to making a spelling mistake on one of Maximus' posts.

Anyway, back to the Election...

I would like to thank Newsman - no connection to me, I must remind people - for my spelling and I was only saying that ITV News now are bound to be sorting out their reporters for the expected Election. Am I right, Newsman or someone else?

You're not Newsman, he's someone else. You're not someone else, you're not right, you're maximus.

well from what i have seen/heard of itn's efforts, i am not building up much hope! the results centre looks ... tiny, compared to previous elections. sounds like the theatre of news will be home to the main bit, perhaps with the results centre used as a backdrop.

not sure if this has been posted yet, so i will post a small piccy to give an idea of the bbc's graphics this time round.

Mod Edit: Image embargoed until the launch of the Election Campaign. Do not re-post.
