In case anyone finds it useful, I would recommend this guide from Guardian Unlimited Politics which has a timetable of what's expected to happen and what you should look out for at different times of the night.

Obviously a number of other sites/newspapers have produced similar offerings, but this is by far the most detailed I've seen.

As we now have two threads discussing the same thing, would it not make more sense to drop them and open a main ''Election Night'' thread to discuss tonight's events in?

Perhaps a mod could create one and pin it to the top of the forum.

Maybe one of us mere mortals (non-mods) should just start a thread here - it's only half an hour until the start of the official election night programming on Sky

Why? The boat has sailed on the invites, I'm afraid.

The party is at my house, and party is an exaggeration. There is only a limited about of fun that politically-obsessed young people can have, you know.

I will start a new, general thread. I'll still be popping in here throughout the night to slag off ITV, praise Sky, and be indifferent about the BBC.

Aren't the fill in stories wonderful tonight - Today must be the worst day (until 10pm anyway) for 24hr News - Isn't the RPA wonderful - Not a single politician saying anything for 15 hours every 4 or 5 years.

Sky's Election studio may be small but I do like their virtual reality graphics. Simple and stylish.
