Alastair Stewart has just been on ITV with a preview of their election night - complete with virtual House of Commons with moving MPs, and the cartoons of Blair and Howard.

There's a humerous hour by hour round-up of last time's election programming on BBC1 & ITV, here:http://www.offthetelly.co.uk/factual/election/electionnight1.htm

There was a demonstration of ITV's graphics on the News at 10:30, camera seemed very shakey, not very smooth at all.

as posted over in the midlands thread ...

tvmercia posted:
patrick said, and i quote "its a new departure for us, here in the midlands we will have constant screen updates throughout the night ..."

are we talking about an election version of kays system Laughing (or perhaps not) or a midlands ticker over network, or is patrick getting excited over some graphics they'll overlay during midlands opts?

have we had local election info overlayed onto network before? is patrick talking about a ticker? and are all the regions bothering?

They really should use that backdrop for the normal bulletins! It looks 100 times better than that bland blue blocks backdrop.

That reminds me of the old ITN set of the mid 1990's, it would look good for use on regular bulletins, especially when ITV gets a new look later this year.

Hope the graphics in Dimbleby's box aren't the ones they'll be using on the night.

I see they have blocked the London Tonight studio out with a cross. By the way if Alistair and Katy are both involved with ITV1 main election coverage, who is going to be presenting London's regional opt?
