Starting to wonder why they're criticising ITV for being gimmicky.

Have to say, from what I saw, was not overly impressed with Snow's graphics.

Compared to last time, the swingometer looked pretty pathetic.

That sounds *interesting* Embarassed

It's a direct rip from NBC's US Election coverage, where they have a US map painted in Rockafella plaza and colour it as the results come in.

I'll probably head over to Gateshead quayside on Thursday morning to see if I can get some pics.

First look at Sky's Election night studio.

Not 100% virtual but a real set with virtual elements, the style is the same as the Soccer Saturday desk, Metallic grey. Huge ticker above the desk.

Sky have just previewed their election night coverage.

For the studio: think Star Trek

For the graphics: think much of what you've seen already, but a bit more advanced, with the vidiprinter being part of the bottom strap and the ticker replaced with counts and forecasts, and a sidebar with updates on marginals and profiles and background, etc.

Looks very snazzy. It is obviously not 100% virtual like last time, as the background 'windows' were blue haze and the rest was a metal/chrome/plastic affair. Slightly cheap looking plastic, but design was certainly inspired!

Has a ticker running around the top of the studio. It does not appear to be VR, as it is reflected in the enormous desk (again, Star Trek/NASA mission control) but there are no joins b/w the thing, so maybe it's not plasma either.

I'm sure someone will have seen it, and posted exactly the same thing as me whilst I was typing this.

Didn't look the same as Soccer Saturday to me...

Looked like a triangle shaped thing, with computers 'built-in' to the desk, with metal panels sticking out of it.

It really does look a heck of a lot better than that on-screen.

Hehe, loving the professional caps.

It does look very nice indeed. Hopefully without sounding like a broken record, it does seem to bode well for the future look of Sky News.

I think I'll leave mine up, if only for comedy purposes.

Presumably the blue panel areas will turn to images of different counts, maps, interviews, etc.

Stanford's House of Commons looks a hell of a lot better than last time. That just looked cheap, I thought.

Looking at the graphics, they surely have to have been designed with widescreen in mind.

In those caps the studio looks very...well....grey.

I'm sure the panels will be filled with colour on the big night and it'll look more professional.

The only thing is that it'll undoubtedly look midgety (if such a word exists) against the giant two-tiered studio on BBC One.

Also slightly confused by the wording of an article I saw recently- almost suggested that News 24 would be doing their own thing from BBC One- might have just misinterpreted it (surely I have haven't I?)
