If I were a resident of Sunderland South, I'd have kicked out Chris Mullin a long time ago for wasting so much money on being the first to declare.

Much fun as it is, it costs an absolute fortune in hiring extra staff, extra transport, logistics, etc. and it's totally pointless. I'm sure it'd be better spent on some sort of community centre of hospital project.

Didn't realise Folkstone and Hythe was going to be such a late declaration. How adorable would it be to see Howard lose his seat and the election in one go? Sure he won't, but the Lib Dems like to think they're making progress down there. Did well last time. Painful having to wait for that one.

Nothing to do with Chris Mullin. It's the responsibility of the returning officer.

Well, yes, true to an extent, but Mullin makes a great virtue of it on election night.

And he's a bit of a ****.

It's probably been mentioned already, but the BBC Scotland programme will be available UK-wide via BBC Parliament.

that's the only place it should be

The Five programme has come back 5 minutes to start at midnight in the listings, and from the description is the Sky News coverage.

Radio Times confirms that Five will be showing Sky News coverage.

Also, it looks like Breakfast on May 6th will be presented by Bill and Sian (maybe with Dermot), as RT says that Natasha will be one of the on-location reporters during the BBC election night programme. Others listed as reporters include Anna Ford, Rageh Omaar, John Simpson and Kirsty Wark.

Also the BBC's England programme will be on BBC 2 Wales from 23:55 just like it is in Scotland from 21:55.

Meanwhile on the radio, Radio 2 has a special programme presented by Jeremy Vine after a Parsons and Naylor's Post-Election Special. James Naughtie and Carolyn Quinn present Radio 4's coverage while Five Live says it is simulcasting with 1Xtra and the Asian Network (but the listings for those stations are normal programmes). There are also special programmes on the World Service, Radio Wales, Radio Scotland, Classic FM and TalkSport.

Well it does seem a little odd that Wales misses the first two hours of the network programme for no apparent reason.

Mind you four years ago, the BBC Wales programme was on BBC2 all night, with network on BBC1. I daresay the recent-ish return of Huw Edwards to BBC Wales' programmes has given it high enough profile to be on BBC1 all night.

Channel Four News have commissioned Quiet Storm (the viral ads people) to create the Party Political Broadcasts they think the parties would like to have if the rules allowed them.

They're really good, despite what I think of the party, the Tory one is fantastic. You can see all three at the channel 4 site.

Fans of Anne McKenzie (and others) might have seen "Election Time: Your Questions". A panel of five voters questioning politicians from each of the main parties. It's pretty similar in format to the series they ran for the Scottish Parliament elections in 2002 (although minus the audience), right down to the same location - Glasgow Uni - and same set.

What I can't quite work out is why they've gone to the bother of renting out the hall for the week, as well as a nice OB truck from 021, a satellite uplink, and a bunch of cameras, when they could easily have done it in the less echoey Studio A, up the road. Any ideas?

It was mentioned a few days ago that the BBC would have staff in every constitiuency armed with digital cameras and mobile phones. These reporters will be drawn from across the BBC departments (weather, sport, etc.) and, according to the Radio Times, includes Michael Fish. It will be interesting to hear his take on the politics!!

Good to see a heckler trying to get on the news- during News 24's live OB from the Battlebus in Cardiff. Wouldn't stop shouting to the point where you could hardly make out what the guests were saying.

Not that you could understand what the heckler was protesting about.

But then he was probably Welsh.

News 24 also made a token gesture to the Welsh, but putting up the aston strap "The election bus is in Cardiff today" in Welsh- from memory it looked something like "hsdlua hufi iufosh Cardiff iueyo".

What has happened to Robert Nisbett (sp) on Sky News?

I thought he, along with Burley, was supposed to be in Rossendale and Darwen throughout the campaign. I've seen him about twice, whereas she has been on almost constantly.

Is he still there, or has she eaten him alive?
