So that would explain the grey square corner we kept seeing for the last few weeks!

Looks good -im sure its harder for the computer to recreate a reflection due to the shape of the desks! Whereas before it seemed to work really well (the angle of reflection rather than the CSO/green stuff)

Live with Alastair Stewart has an election panel of IDS, Jenny Tonge and Frank Dobson

Good to see they're adjusting the colours of the cubes on the newswall. Can't understand why they are still using pink and green though

I think the reason that there is a problem with the reflection is that the height of the table(s) is higher than the previous one and is located nearer the newswall and so the bottom portion of the newswall(which usually says Live with Alastair Stewart etc) will be apparant!

I do like the new studio look and the whole Election graphics used on ITV News so far!

That desk is absolutely awful. It looks horrible on screen and makes the studio look disjointed. Maybe a bit of simplicity wouldn't go a miss!

The newswall graphics are also just as bad - the whole thing has a VERY cheap look about it especially when compared to Sky and BBC.

It does look a bit plonked there, well I guess it is.

What's the extra bit for ?

It is foul isn't it. It doesn't fit with the sweeping curves in the rest of the set and just looks cheap and overly large. The reflection on it is dire.

BBC One's set has a snazzy new backdrop too I notice. Much nicer and warmer than the old sterile thing.

I think the desk looks really good, at least it makes a statement straight away and people can see that they are making an effort. Remember last week people complained that there was nothing special happening on the ITV News Channel following the election being called.

You can imagine on election night they'll have loads of guests sat round it, presumably someone or something will go on the little extra bit at the side, I'm sure it'll all become clear.

I would have expected the old desk to still be used on ITV1 bulletins until election night but I suppose moving it in and out all the time would mean it'd be all scratched and chipped by election night

It'll be interesting to see if it's still there at 10.30, with Trevor sat at it on his own

Foreign correspondents are usually very experienced and talented reporters and suit the election stuff well. Also most likely that all of them some point did some election work before they left for foreign shores.

BBC have also brought in foreign correspondents for the election. Paris correspondent Caroline Wyatt will be travelling on the election bus and filing reports for BBC news online.

Interesting that News 24 went solo this morning and didn't take breakfast, showing instead all the press conferences etc with Labour, Tories, Lib Dems. Phil Hayton was on just before 9 - Did he do the whole morning?
