Dead right. So keep out. If it worries you that much, report it.

winifred: I cannot stress enough how little I care about your university. Frankly, I think you're lying, because you come across as having all the intellect of a schoolchild, but that's besides the point.

I think your obsession with universities is probably indicative of the fact that you're not yet at one, and probably still waiting for your UCAS form. With regards to the admissions people slitting their wrists for letting me in, not entire sure where the logic is in that, but I think debating it would be pointless.

Again, I suggest you go away, stop telling everyone about universities, and hop off to the Bitesize website to do some more revision.

I don't think its been made clear, Why did BBC News 24 simulcast the One O'Clock News?

Was a 'News Special' on BBC 1 and News 24 - It wasn't simulcast as such - they just both took the top of the hour from the studio at westminster. When Huw handed back, the One and N24 both went their separate ways.

Breakfast News
Wonder if Breakfast will come from the main set on Election results morning, or stay in their own set as in 2001?

I hope that they will go into the main set- as in 1997. No mention of presenters in the press pack - I take it Kaplinsky will co-host with Dermot? This will be a test for her - if she carries it off well I'll be amazed.

Going from the "Notes to Editors" section of the Sky News Press release about the Election, expect a "Soccer Saturday/Sky Sports News" style with "Vidiprinter" and Side-panels.

Latest technology:
Within 90 seconds of tuning to Sky News on Election Night, the viewer will be up-to-date with a snapshot of the poll at that point. A 'vidiprinter' style display will show the most recent results. Constantly updated side panels will run through the state of the parties, regional breakdowns, gains and losses. In addition to taking the standard results feed from PA, key declarations will be covered live, with voting figures entered in real time - crunched - as they are announced. As always, state-of-the art virtual sets will showcase Sky News' reputation for telling the story in a clear and accessible way.

That sounds vastly more sensible than what the networks usually go for. I've never quite understood why they haven't done it like this, when it is clearly the most obvious solution.

On election night, you have about 3/4 results coming in within 10 seconds, so they have to sit there and delay the cycle of the graphics to allow viewers to keep up. Totally mad.

I'm quite pleased with the Sky graphics - not so brash, but pretty smartly organised.

Don't think the Beeb's have the sort of quality that they had in 2001. What I've seen so far just looks a bit cheap, and I reckon the novelty value of the bus is going to wear a little bit thin after a while.

George showed us around the Election bus on tonights Six. Looks as if they have their own logo, basically the election logo with a '6' rather than an 'X'.

I also note that tonights Ten is extended by 5 minutes through to 10.30, will this be a regular occurance throughout the campaign??

Scottish have put up this effort on their website:

Hope the logo looks a bit better on screen.

I guess they'll probably be doing shared analysis with Grampian (would make sense really).

yes it was wonderfully "look at how fab we are" wasn't it.

Not keen on Peter Snow's virtual studio The lights are perfectic and the whol;e backdrop is washed out. Otherwise I'm liking the rest of the BBC's election graphics

Here's a collection of N24 caps, mainly illustrating the use of the ticker...

Okay, a couple of questions.

What's the Sky News Interest Index (which they seem to assume we're all already really familiar with)?

Also, what's worm polling? Shocked
I've never heard of any of these terms?! Where have they come from?

Might as well have.
I feel we're seeing the results of some 'blue sky thinking' meetings by Sky News. Seems they are trying to come up with as many gimmicks and 'features' as possible.

Already trailed: "Sky Across Britain", "Sky Interest Index", "The Boulton Factor", "If I Were PM" with top public figures, "Daily Swing Seat" and the worm-polling. Geez. Lingo galore.
(EDIT - Of course, there's the "Reality Check" as well.)

At least the ticker's not burning "Jackson Trial Reconstruction" into my eyes continuously any longer.

Just come from flicking through the news channels - here are my thoughts..
BBC News (network and 24) Nice, clear and not to disracting. One slight problem is the word 'election' appearing on upto 4 times on the same screen.

ITV News Awful - were they caught out by the date of the announcment? And, it could be argued here that having the ticker background in red all the time, could be giving a slight bias to Labour.

Sky News Sort it out. Tickers, revolving blocks, fly-in text, animated backgrounds. Horrible, messy and unnecessary.

Look, they've had 4 years to come up with election 2005, and it's either a case of too much (sky) not enough thought (itv) or almost there but trying too hard (BBC)

Hatton Cross marks it - 7/10 for effort.
