I started watching the Sky News coverage from 11am this morning, and when they first introduced the graphics, I thought they seemed a bit rushed, and not very well laid out, although they seem to be settling down as the day goes on.

I thought Sky may have pulled the stunt that they did last year, with a pretty much full relaunch as soon as the announcement was made, but no such luck, not even an edited intro!

I've not seen much News 24 coverage, but they do seem to be making a fair bit of effort from what I've seen.

I don't understand the green on ITV NC though!!??!!!

ITV's effort seems very lackluster, not much happening.

Was it wrong of me to hope that there would have been a bit of congestion on the road behind him, hopefully causing an open-top tour bus to pause behind them? Would've been classic, some tourists with cameras taking photos.

Oh well, might still happen in the next 4 weeks or so... Smile

There was a hell of a lot of background noise, and yes, everytime another bus passes, you are of course level with the passengers on the upper deck.

Just to illustrate Wink

no you are not and the sooner you realise this the better.

Sky seem to be using swooshes with the BBC using stripes (bit poor but better than those awful black things they used for the last elections (was it council ones?). What are the ITVNC's graphics like? I don't have it up here.

Is Jon Sopel on board said bus right now, or just a temporary studio in Westminster?

Yep, he's on the bus.

Shame the seats have to be a neutral grey colour because it makes the bus look a bit naff.

Judging by the artist's impression, you'd have thought the couch would be red. That's how they designed it originally.

Yeah, those were the shots I was referring to a few pages back. Why were they standing? And it did look a little like a CSO background at the time. I haven't caught many other shots from that position this afternoon, but I noticed they've been in the newsroom and at the wall for much of the day.

Have seen Sky News using that shot set-up a few time recently - they seem to have a hard on for variety of views of the newsroom. Good, though. Think it helps give the start of the bulletin a decent gravitas.

Those Sky News graphics are poor.

I don't think the Sky News graphics are poor, but they aren't what I expected. I expected more extravagance from them.

Is the BBC Bus moving when they are doing interviews and things??

Yes they have been using that shot for quite a while now - a couple of weeks after they rolled out the "Sky News Today" format to the 1pm - 5pm shift.

Looks quite good IMO

The skynews VOTE O5 slug gets annoying after awhile. Can't they just have it still instead of animating.

argh
