Breaking News at Sky News, and the Election slug has been replaced with the regular Sky News Flash.

(Royal Wedding at 12.30 on Saturday)

Whereas on News 24 we had "ELECTION 2005 to take place 12:30 pm Sat" for a few seconds..!

Here's the multi-headlined 1 o'clock BBC News simulcast if anyone wants to have a gander (unfortunatley due to webspace reasons, I had to cut the lovely 50 second countdown beforehand Sad):

How odd - N24 just went to the weather and all the astons twirled away as per usual, but then the giant 'ELECTION 2005' aston reappeared and disappeared again after about five seconds.

Looking at - that News 24 opted out of the BBC One Network feed just like a region (Network presumably still carried BBC London) .N24 hid the music bed change to their local bed with a "crash", and mixed back to the opening titles late, which they couldn't have done if they were the network sustaining feed. (The network feed is a cut to the titles, and it is as early as you can get - so sees the pre-explosion)

people have even started campaigns to get rid of you.

See, this is my point. Instead of starting campaigns to get rid of me from a small internet forum, why don't you start a campaign to get rid of poverty in Africa or start a campaign to improve the recruitement of teachers in schools in the UK.

Take a leaf out of Jamie Oliver's book. He's not spending his time getting stressed about comments made on an internet site. Mr. Oliver is using his energy to improve the quality of school meals across the UK. So watch and learn.

As I work for an MP in both his constituency and in Westminster, I am well versed in the processes of political campaigning. It does not, however, take over my life.

I see no particular correlation between my university education and my contribution to these fora, but for what it's worth it's in the top 10 universities in the country. As you are yet to depart secondary school, I cannot comprehend why your level of interest in such a subject is so great.

Drawing a line under the issue and getting back to the election...

Dunedin: Yes, I know, it was stupid. He said exactly the same thing within a few hours. Presumably he realises that his speeches are not for the 100 or so people in Birmingham, but the hundreds of thousands watching Sky/News 24. Admittedly, most people will not have stuck around that long, but it doesn't look good. They normally do this, though, but you'd have thought that this time they might've been a little more media-savvy.

As for the cartoon characters... did Sky not do something VERY similar last time? I see to remember animated Tony Blairs and Adam Boultons.

I'm not entirely sure that Julie Etchingham's the 'first woman' to present an election night programme. Kay Burley fronted Sky's programme in 1997 alongside Adam Boulton and Laurie Mayer.

Media Guardian are reporting that Question Time has got all three party leaders to agree to appear on the same show.........

.....in 30 minute segregated slots.

Pathetic- we need US Style grand debates where the leaders can't hide behind the same meaningless statements and have to directly compare their policies. PMQs in an environment where the usual grunting and groaning would be embarassing. The show we're going to get will be an improvement from previous elections (points from e.g. Howard can be put to Blair- I'm sure he'll get the last slot), but the idea that they'll all be under one roof but not debating with each other is a bit of an insult to the entire british electorate.

.

Well despite the fact that you're at top 10 university (blimey, the Admissions Tutor must be cutting his or her wrists after admitting someone like you, I'm surpirsed you didn't end up at a university such as London South Bank or Buckingham), it seems that you can't read because as I stated before, I'm at university (a top ten university just like you cat) studying for a Masters. I'm not at secondary school as you constantly state (give it a rest because that comment is just lame to the extreme. If you're going to insult me, please do so properly).

Have a nice day cat. Laughing

I'm no mod, but last time I checked petty little squabbles should be taken to PMs. Sort it out there or get off the forum.

BTW, the Westminster studio used this morning is utter shïte.

I realise this is a pedantic point (and you probably meant this anyway) but it's normally only "hundreds of thousands watching" if you add together the viewers of both (or all three) news channels. On their own they regularly have viewerships in the tens of thousands at best.
