If you follow the link to the source of that info you will see that audience share is less than 0.1% and that the average viewer watched for less than 30 seconds a month.
For the latest week of figures, weekly reach of 239,000 people, i.e. 239,000 people watched for at least consecutive viewers. Which is not surprising given that the vast majority of the British public is stupid.
If 1983 has been shown before, did they show the London opt as well?
(I'm assuming if it was from the network feed, London was on there by default !)
Which previous Parly repeats included the (London) opt out?
In those days, it was the BBC South East version, which used to cover from Oxfordshire to East Sussex and Kent. A might region which was dreadful if you lived outside London. I remember London Plus/Newsroom SE would have a token Oxon story though.
.....ah, so THAT was the year that Esther Rantzen was involved in this broadcast........I remember it well now. She was awful in this particular type of programme.
I love seeing these old election shows in their entirety it's interesting to see the graphics change and get more adventurous during the Dimbleby/Snow era.
My first election coverage memory is from 1979, it was David Dimbleby's first and the first to use that distinctive theme. The sets in 1979 & 1983 looked small compared to same previous and later election broadcasts. Did those shows come from Studio 1 at BBC Television Centre?
