Al Jazeera broadcasts in 14:9. Shame they don't broadcast their full HD-ness.
On Satellite they broadcast in 4:3 so although it is a 14:9 picture, your TV should be able to cope as well with that as any other 4:3 channel or programme.
Not sure which part of the music you are referring to but the sting is exactly the same as it always is. The ident music varies slightly between the different idents, there are about 30 (IIRC) of those helicopter idents, and about 5 different music tracks.
A very harrowing report by John Simpson just now, detailing mainly a hospital in Tripoli and a nearby residential area, both littered with dead bodies.
Apart from the obvious hunt for Gadaffi, I am sure more and more cases of death and destruction will become apparent in the coming days.
Also: my TV doesn't cope well with 14:9 broadcasts. What is AJ broadcast mode in the UK? It's very annoying!!!!
It's 14:9 everywhere, except on their web stream which is 16:9.
What does your telly do with 14:9? It should be no different to how it handles 4:3
Unfortunately, my TV stretches 4:3 pictures unless I manually reset the aspect ratio (and my TV doesn't have an option for 14:9). Apparently the HDMI link can't handle AR changes from the Sky box.

Yes, I remember that on a crappy old Thomson Sky HD box I once had, it's the Sky box that doesn't send AR commands* I think ?
The Humax Freesat box is far better, there's a mode on the box that allows 4:3 (and 14:9 letterboxed into 4:3) transmissions to be pillarboxed into a 16:9 image by the box, so as far as the TV is concerned it's just a bog std anamorphic image (also makes it impossible to stretch a 4:3 transmission to fill the screen, which I consider to be 'A Good Thing'
* I'm not sure HDMI allows for AR switching, at HD resolutions ? As HD is native 16:9 ?
My Sky box does if it's "HD Resolution Output" is set to Automatic, but then it doesn't upscale anything and the decrease in quality of the SD channels is noticable. There's also up to 5 seconds of black screen when switching between an HD channel and SD channel or vice versa. There's little that I watch that's broadcast in 4:3 besides CNNi, so I leave it on 1080i.
