Are they having issues with playing trails out on the NC? Over 60 seconds countdown into the One.

No sports trail either during the headline sequence, instead replaced with a "join us all afternoon on the NC for updates".

Maybe it's because they had to switch from N8 to N6? We don't get trails at 10pm normally for the same reason.

Perhaps the sport thing is because there won't be time for sports updates....

Just a guess! Smile

I assume it's because the BBC World junctions are longer so they finished earlier on the News Channel and need to fill.

N8 will presumably be just a source on N6's mixer so there's no switching as such, it's just a cut from N8 to weather to break to a camera in N6

Even when the NC is in full breaking news mode and opting out of the network bulletins after the lead story, they (virtually) always trail the sports bulletin, despite there being no chance of actually broadcasting it.

Have they linked to the wrong video in that blog post?
They link to this, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-14611603 which is a clip from Al Jazeera.

According to her Twitter feed, Kasia Madera was supposed to be anchoring with Clive, but as with Rachel Schofield this morning, has gone to the Libyan embassy instead.

Much more satisfied with BBC's coverage today. The correspondents in the country seem to be more apparent on the channel today, with Matthew Price, Rupert Wingfield-Hayes and Rana Jawad all contributing, as well as correspondents much more further afield, like in Paris, Washington and now Cairo. We'll see how they come out of this situation, but so far all the praise is for Sky, and not too many lauding BBC.

Haven't watched that much of Sky today, although they seem to be using their exclusive coverage from last night with Alex Crawford and quite rightly so. I presume she's gone for a little nap after a very long shift! How long was she live for altogether?

BBC coverage has improve vastly but CNN is still not fully committed to the story. ie with men on the ground and feel like they are trailing the story. "World news leader" Fail

Another filler countdown! This feels so strange seeing it every 30 mins.

I think Alex Crawford must have been live for 15 hours at least - she was still reporting at 9am this morning, and was reporting from outside Tripoli on Sky News at Six last night.
Stephen Dixon also had a mammoth shift overnight as well - On from 7pm until well into the early hours of this morning!

Whoops!

Someone messed up last night!

Jon Williams has praised him for a 'great apology'.
