Sky monopoly has ended. AJI is now LIVE in GREEN SQ

And oddly they're calling it 'Green Square' now!
EDIT: ahhh, that's because the opposition have announced that they're going to rename it 'Martyrs Square'

I'm watching it on my phone but the picture quality from the square looks a lot better than Sky's. They're interviewing people too

Is there anything stopping the BBC/CNN/AJE showing Sky's pictures from Green Square as long as they credit them? Would surely be better than the scenario on the BBC at the moment where they are showing daylight pictures from hours and hours ago.

A thought of getting a big invoice from Sky in the morning would stop them! Of all the news organisations Sky are probably the most protective over their footage, and they certainly wouldn't want it being used by one of their 3 deadly rivals. It's not as if being promoted is a good deal, the majority of BBC, AJE and CNN viewers will not have access to Sky.

In some cases channels do just rebroadcast others when there are big stories, usually a national broadcaster. It's legally iffy, although often it will go under the defense of fair use

Thanks for that, had always wondered how such arrangements worked.

Just worth asking again, what will BBC do for footage of this? Will they have camera crews out who aren't able to broadcast live?

I wonder how BBC Arabic are covering it?

Lets hope the BBC do something drastic in the coming hours.

Jeremy Bowen was in Tunisia a couple of days ago. Lyse Doucet was on Radio Four duty at the weekend. I guess one of them may be on the way, subject to having the visa to enter.

Possibly, there'll be agency material available too, but that too could take a while to filter through.

At least we won't have to waste any more money bombing targets in Libya but then again the aftermath of this could require huge world support.
